We are an educational summer intensive program geared toward high school and collegiate singers, but welcome community members as well. We rehearse for three weeks, generally in the evenings, on the campus of the University of Mary Washington. We are tuition-free, but do require a registration fee to help offset expenses. (Limited scholarships are available.)
Housing is not provided for out-of-town participants, but there are many affordable AirBnBs, extended stays, etc. in historic Fredericksburg, Virginia. We are close to Richmond, Virginia, Washington, DC, and close enough to Virginia Beach for a quick day trip on your day off.
Our Faculty is a combination of local music educators as well as visiting faculty who join us exclusively for our Summer Program. Besides rehearsals, we also offer Masterclasses, where students perform for their peers and guests and receive a 10 - 15 minute coaching, and Seminars on subjects such as the history of opera, vocal health, audition technique and performing styles. (For example, this past summer we had a movement class on the Laban Method.) We love the opportunity to bring the beautiful world of opera to our community.
